Family and friends are mourning the death of Patricia Marie Jones, who passed away suddenly on Aug.5.
Pat was a retired public administrator with over 40 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors, including the City of Richmond and AT&T.
Most recently, she served as assistant executive director of the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), the regional planning agency and council of governments representing the nine counties and 101 cities of the Bay Area.
During Pat’s employment with the City of Richmond, she served as acting assistant director of the Housing Authority. Her federal experience includes two separate tenures with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Region IX – first as a Housing Intern early in her career and later as deputy director of Region IX in San Francisco.
Pat was a former board member of the East Bay Community Foundation and past president of the Richmond Community Foundation.
At the time of her death, she was a board member and officer of UJIMA, a women’s Resource Center headquartered in San Pablo. She held undergraduate and graduate degrees from San Francisco State University and UC Berkeley.
Pat is survived by her brothers Terry Jones (Sharon) and Kenneth Jones (Carla); nephew Adam Jones; nieces Kristyn Jones, Rachelle Jackson, Patrice Jackson, Jamie Smith, Maris Jones and Tara Jones; grandnieces Elizabeth Dominguez and Ashley Jones; aunts and uncles; and a host of cousins and special friends.
