Kate Harrison Wins District 4 Seat on Berkeley City Council

Unofficial results show that Kate Harrison has overwhelmingly won the District 4 seat on the Berkeley City Council, defeating her opponent 63.7 percent to 36.3 percent.

Votes that were dropped at Berkeley City Hall or at county clerk’s office or are mail have not been counted yet.

Harrison, a public sector consultant, has served on the Housing Advisory Commission, the Parks and Waterfront Commission and the Streets and Open Space Improvement Committee.

Harrison’s campaign primarily emphasized addressing the city’s affordable housing crisis. She has advocated for providing residents and businesses with resources to invest in rooftop solar and save on their utility bills.

She was endorsed by the Berkeley Progressive Alliance, Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club and the California Nurses Association.

Harrison’s opponent Ben Gould is a UC Berkeley graduate student. He was endorsed by almost all of the executive members of the ASUC student government and Graduate Assembly.
