The West Oakland Health Council (WOHC) is now open Thursday evenings and Saturdays.
The health center at 700 Adeline is open Thursday evenings until 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Call to schedule a medical or dental appointment at (510) 835-9610.
Walk-ins are also welcome.
Benjamin Pettus, the WOHC’s chief executive officer, was appointed in April 2016.
“Healthcare is my passion and my calling. The West Oakland Health Council has been vital to Bay Area families for generations,” he said, citing families that have remained loyal through delivering their babies, pediatrics care, in addition to myriad preventive and chronic care services.
“We work night and day to uphold the honor of being our community’s partner in good health,” said Pettus. “We know our patients deserve the highest standard of care, and we’re committed to delivering on that promise.”
The West Oakland Health Council this year celebrates its 50-year legacy. Cloteal Davis, one of The WOHC’s original founders, is honorary chairwoman of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations and Events.
“We saw the need back in 1967, and since then we have never stopped working and fighting to meet it,” she said. “Our community deserves no less than the highest quality health care and compassion. It’s why we have been here for the past 50 years, and why we are strengthening all of our systems to make sure we are here for the community for the next 50 years.”
The updated health center offers maternal and child health, WIC services, mental health services, substance abuse treatment enrollment services for Medi-Cal, Covered California, Cal-Fresh and Every Woman Counts.
