OCCUR Presents Workshop for Non-Profit Grant Seekers, Aug. 18


“All grant seekers want big money and believe their programs deserve to win those large monetary awards,” says Carmen Bogan, program director of A Model Built on Faith technical assistance program,   “but substantial, multi-year grants are based on programs built on accurate data, not guesswork.”

OCCUR’s upcoming training, “Data Collection for Designing Knockout Programs and Winning Grants,” is an intensive, interactive workshop that will prepare participants to use powerful government databases to build their best case for large grants.

Instructors Lisa Bolden, Data Dissemination Specialist, Data Dissemination Branch U.S. Census Bureau, and Carmen Bogan, CEO of the Bogan Group will teach participants how to mine census and other sometimes elusive data to uncover true community needs and emerge with facts that make a case for receiving winning grants

Course instructors recommend that each participant or organization bring a laptop to this interactive session.

The workshop will be offered on Aug. 18 at the 360 14th St., Suite 100 in Oakland. .  Check in: 8:30 a.m.  Workshop begins at 9 a.m.

OCCUR workshops are offered free to faiths and other nonprofit organizations.  The participants with the skills and tools they need to provide critical safety net services and create communities of opportunity.
