On October 26, the California Emergency Medical Services Authority announced the recipients of the 2018 California EMS Award.
Among the 33 honorees recognized at a ceremony held in early December was a Vallejo first responder, who was named as California’s emergency medical technician of the year.
The only Solano County honoree and the sixth to receive the honor since 2007, Jimmy Pierson with Medic Ambulance was selected for being a professional who exhibits excellence and exceptional service, and who epitomizes the profession of caring and commitment to quality healthcare, according to Dr. Howar Backer, director of the California Emergency Medical Services Authority.
In addition to playing an integral role in the modernization of the ambulance EMS system in Solano County, Pierson is an active citizen at the state and local level where he dedicates his time as a board member of the California Ambulance Association and Rotary Club of Fairfield-Suisun and serves on the advisory board of the Fairfield Public Safety Academy, among other numerous committees and organizations. In his response to receiving the award, Pierson expressed feeling humbled by the recogni¬tion, while also emphasizing the talent of Medic Ambulance staff and their dedication to one another and the local communities they serve. The City of Vallejo commends Pierson for being an exemplary citizen.
