Ohlone leader Corrina Gould opened the vigil with a prayer and speech. Also speaking were Oakland City Councilmember Nikki Fortunato Bas and City Council President Rebecca Kaplan, Imam Zaid Shakir of the Lighthouse Mosque in Oakland, and Ahmed Mohssen, of Christchurch, New Zealand, who now lives in the Bay Area.
