Commuters Asked to Provide Feedback on Potential Express Bus Stop Locations
West Contra Costa County commuters are one step closer to having more commute choices with the preliminary identification of new express bus routes and stops that would connect to destinations in Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, and San Francisco.
In Fall 2018, the West Contra Costa Advisory Committee (WCCTAC) kicked off the West Contra Costa County Express Bus Implementation Plan project to plan for expanded transit options for West County residents. The future express bus service would travel primarily along Interstate 80, to help reduce congestion along this busy corridor and improve direct connections to job centers.
Ultimately, WCCTAC will select one or more preferred express bus route alignments to be included in the Draft Express Bus Implementation Plan for public comment. The final express bus route(s) will be designed to serve the greatest number of riders with a minimal amount of pick-up and drop-off locations. To both help prioritize the most needed routes and select route alignments, WCCTAC is requesting that potential express bus riders identify their preferred bus stop locations.
“Today, it would take at least three different transit rides to get from Hercules to Emeryville,” said Leah Greenblat, WCCTAC Project Manager. “The Express Bus Implementation Plan will set the stage for a new express bus service so that West Contra Costa commuters can choose more convenient commutes by transit.”
