Raiders players this week joined Roosevelt Elementary School students who are part a Bay Area after-school program in celebrating Raider Rusher’s 6th birthday as a Raider.
Raiders punter A.J. Cole, kicker Daniel Carlson, fullback Alec Ingold, linebacker Marquel Lee, tackle Kolton Miller and tight end Darren Waller along with Raiderettes participated in the Raider Rusher Birthday Book Bash with 100 students from Davis Street Family Resource Center’s Roosevelt Elementary School campus in San Leandro to promote literacy.
Rusher and his friends, the Raiders players, broke into groups to read and play literary games with the children. Following the party, Raider Rusher distributed birthday gifts to the students — three books each provided by the nonprofit First Book.
Rusher is the Raiders’ Youth Ambassador who appears at activities including PLAY 60 events, First & Goal, suite visits, Kids Zones as well as Children’s Hospital visits and Toys for Tots events. Last year, Raider Rusher celebrated his 5th birthday by inviting students from Oakland’s International Community School to attend a Fiesta at Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland.
