From 1958 to 1962, McClymonds Warriors high school basketball team was the greatest in the country, amassing 110 wins with only one loss.

Mack Warriors’ teams will be honored on Oct. 11 at Scott’s in Jack London Square in Oakland.

A sponsoring committee that grew out of McClymonds 100th anniversary celebration will be presenting special recognition to those teams. The committee consists of Joe Ellis, Ed Thomas, Sylvester Hodgers, Virtual Murrell, Bill Patterson and Ben Tapscott.

Now that Oakland’s Golden State Warriors have captured the imagination of the country, Bay Area sports fans are reminded that Mack’s Warriors teams were the first to have strength in the numbers of top quality players.
