Producers Guild Announces Awards Nominees, Snubs ‘Selma’

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Producers Guild of America has announced the nominees for its 26th annual awards, and the celebrated civil rights drama “Selma” isn’t on the list.

The nominees for outstanding theatrical motion picture producer are “American Sniper,” ”Birdman,” ”Boyhood,” ”Foxcatcher,” ”Gone Girl,” ”The Grand Budapest Hotel,” ”The Imitation Game,” ”Nightcrawler,” ”The Theory of Everything” and “Whiplash.”

“Selma” has been named among the year’s best films by various industry groups. It’s produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions.

In the animated feature category, the nominees are “Big Hero 6,” ”The Book of Life,” ”The Boxtrolls,” ”How to Train Your Dragon 2″ and “The Lego Movie.”

Winners will be revealed at a Jan. 24 ceremony in Los Angeles.

The Producers Guild represents more than 6,700 producers of film, television and online content.
