Azealia Banks Criticizes BET Awards for Nicki Minaj Nominations, Misspelling Name
I really hate getting nominated for @bet awards. They're so bogus.
— AZEALIA BANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) May 18, 2015
NEW YORK (UPI) – Shortly after Azealia Banks was nominated for a BET Award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist on Monday, the singer went on a Twitter rant slamming the “bogus” award show for misspelling her name and complaining about her competition, Nicki Minaj’s winning streak
The network, who posted the nominees online, wrote that the 23-year-old was “one of rap’s most unfiltered MCs and “has made headlines via her Twitter.” Little did BET know, it would shortly become the reason for her tweets that are being reported on.
Banks took to Twitter to share her frustrations about the nominations. First she tweeted, “@bet has thrown me such much shade over the years. Keep misspelling my name…” but it has since been deleted. “I really hate getting nominated for @bet awards. They’re so bogus,” she wrote.
