Free Hazardous Waste, Mattress Drop-Off Event Coming to Richmond

Residents of West Contra Costa County are encouraged to take advantage of a free one-day household hazardous waste and mattress drop-off event on Sat., Sept. 23, in Richmond. The event, hosted in collaboration with RecycleMore and Republic Services, will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 371 South 23rd St.

Residents of West Contra Costa County are encouraged to take advantage of a free one-day household hazardous waste and mattress drop-off event on Sat., Sept. 23, in Richmond.

The event, hosted in collaboration with RecycleMore and Republic Services, will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 371 South 23rd St.

The free drop-off benefits residents of West Contra Costa County — including those from Richmond, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Hercules, Pinole, and nearby unincorporated areas.

Accepted are unwanted household chemicals, pesticides, automotive fluids, paint, batteries, CFLs, electronic waste, and up to three mattresses and/or box springs per household. A maximum of three mattresses and/or box springs per household, and weight restrictions, will apply.

Participants must remain in their vehicles for a contactless drop-off experience. Proper ID is required showing proof of residence.

Can’t make it to this one-day event? Visit the permanent drop-off facility at the West Contra Costa County Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at 101 Pittsburg Ave, Richmond. It is open from Wednesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
