God on Wall Street: Elitism And Democratic Socialism

At Harvard University, the shield says, “VERITAS,” which is Greek for “TRUTH.” However, we have discovered that thanks to, “Operation Varsity Blues,” “TRUTH,” for some institutions is quite the opposite.
After spending an entire semester on campus on my way to becoming a fellow at America’s oldest institution of higher learning, I see that elitism is in full sway. In one of my classes, taught by E.J. Dionne, Jr., a syndicated columnist for the Washington Post and a visiting professor from Georgetown University, we had Noah Feldman as a guest lecturer. In his opening statement to us, Feldman, who teaches at Harvard’s Law School, said “if you are here in this classroom, you are considered America’s elite.”
Jared Kushner is a prime example of elitism replacing what hard work should do. According to Daniel Golden from The Guardian, in an interview with a school administrator from the Frisch School in Paramus, N.J., “There was no way anybody in the administrative office of the school thought he would on his merits get into Harvard…… His GPA [grade point average] did not warrant it, his SAT scores did not warrant it. We thought, for sure, there was no way this was going to happen. Then, lo and behold, Jared was accepted.’’
It was discovered later that his father, Charles Kushner, had made a pledge to the school of $2.5 million. Jared, and his brother Joshua are both graduates of Harvard College. Jared Kushner, the Harvard cheater, is now a senior political adviser to the president of the United States of America.
A sentinel for human rights, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was known to be a threat to American capitalism, because he found it to be unfair and lopsided. I read where King said in a speech to his staff in 1966, “You can’t talk about solving the economic problem of the Negro without talking about billions of dollars. You can’t talk about ending the slums without first saying profit must be taken out of slums. You’re really tampering and getting on dangerous ground because you are messing with folk then. You are messing with captains of industry. Now this means that we are treading in difficult water, because it really means that we are saying that something is wrong with capitalism. There must be a better distribution of wealth, and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism.”
On the biggest stage in the world, King shows us what “VERITAS,” really means.
