In Loving Memory of Ismael Williams, Sr.

The Williams-Day-Evans families say, “Thank you!” for honoring Ismael Williams Sr. who was truly beloved by many. We express our heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of love exhibited to our family during our season of grieving.
We will remember the beautiful cards, the many phone calls, visitations, good food, and especially those that braved the cold weather, endured changes and delays during the order-of-services for our beloved.
We are certain Is-ma-el, a.k.a. “Ish,” was pleased that many of you made your way to his home-going service and repast.
We thank the many ministers, faith communities, friends and Grissom’s Chapel & Mortuary in San Lorenzo, California for your prayers and service. Thanks to all who will continue to pay tribute to Ismael Williams, Sr. as life eternal in the heavens is now his new home!
For those not aware of his passing, Ismael Williams, Sr.’s farewell service was Saturday the 14th of December 2019 with visitation hour from 10-11 a.m. and service hour 11 a.m. We apologize to the many that arrived on time yet waited as the service was delayed until 12:30 p.m.
The service occurred at Grissom’s Chapel, located at 267 East Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA 94580. Officiant and eulogist was Ismael’s pastor Bishop Grady L. Harris Sr. of Greater Miracle Temple, Oakland, CA and his two sons. The repast was held at the East Oakland Senior Center, located at 9255 Edes Ave., Oakland, CA 94603 with food to go.
Ismael arrived on this wonderful planet on Wednesday, the 9th of August in 1972 and departed his earthly realm Friday the 29th of November 2019 at the age of 47 in Oakland, CA. Ismael follows his father Melvin Williams, Sr. and maternal and paternal grandparents home.
A carpenter by trade; an exceptional athlete of his time; a warrior for God; a loving father, dutiful husband; great friend and brother, Ismael leaves to celebrate his life, wife Constance L. Oakland Post Endorses Barbara Lee
Barbara Lee will be able to unify the city around Oakland’s critical budget and financial issues, since she will walk into the mayor’s office with the support of a super majority of seven city council members — enabling her to achieve much-needed consensus on moving Oakland into a successful future.

As we end the celebration of Women’s History Month in Oakland, we endorse Barbara Lee, a woman of demonstrated historical significance. In our opinion, she has the best chance of uniting the city and achieving our needs for affordable housing, public safety, and fiscal accountability.
As a former small business owner, Barbara Lee understands how to apply tools needed to revitalize Oakland’s downtown, uptown, and neighborhood businesses.

It is notable that many of those who fought politically on both sides of the recent recall election battles have now laid down their weapons and become brothers and sisters in support of Barbara Lee. The Oakland Post is pleased to join them.
