Juneteenth Festival at Lake Merritt Eastshore

Published

on

Four powerful grassroots organizations: Adamika Village; BOSS; Bishop Mack Eastman; and Akonadi Foundation are joining together to host Juneteenth at Lake Merritt Park on Sunday, June 16th.

Adamika Village’s ‘Stop Killing Our Kids’ movement is recognized throughout the city of Oakland and East Bay for their work in finding missing children, supporting women caught in the web of human trafficking or domestic violence while offering solutions and solace to parents who have lost their children to gun violence.

The BOSS organization has served the Bay Area for over 47 years fighting poverty, homelessness, and injustice with the mission of bringing love, hope, and support to families and individuals.  BOSS training and workshops have turned hundreds, if not thousands of lives around throughout the years.

Bishop Mack Eastman

Bishop  Mack Eastman of the Evangelistic Outreach Church, also known as Green Pastures located at 1743 Foothill Blvd., leads the Bay Area church community by example, giving back to those most in need.

Akonadi Foundation focuses on long-term efforts to foster racial equity for youth and young adults of color in Oakland and supports organizations that employ cultural strategies to advance racial unity and justice. The Akonadi Foundation gave over $115,000 in grants to 23 organizations last year that serve Oakland’s most vulnerable populations.

On Sunday, June 16th their Juneteenth “It’s Da Movement” Celebration at Lake Merritt’s Eastshore Park will occur at 550 El Embarcedero from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00  p.m.
