Music on the Main Ready Will Bring Richmond Alive with Soulful Sounds

Downtown Richmond is set to come alive with sounds of R&B, Reggae, and Zydeco thanks to the 16th annual #MusicOnTheMain summer concert series on Wednesdays, July 26 and Aug. 23 from 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
This event is presented by Richmond Main Street Initiative, a community-based organization revitalizing historic Downtown Richmond. The concert is the organization’s longest running community event and will be held in the parking lot on the corner of Marina Way and Macdonald Avenue—in the heart of Downtown Richmond and conveniently located near the Richmond Transit Station, home to BART, Amtrak, AC Transit, R-Transit, and BikeLink lockers.
The community is invited to come downtown to enjoy music, food, and fun for the entire family. The series kicks off on July 26 with performances by local R&B diva Niecey Living Single & the Obamah$ and eclectic gospel stylings by Steven Green & The Lifeline.
Featured food vendors will include Curbside Kitchen (Filipino fusion), CJ’s BBQ & Fish (ribs, links & more), and Civil Pops (organic ice pops).
The celebration continues Aug. 23 with local son turned world-renowned Zydeco king Andre Thierry and Caribbean Allstars, founding fathers of the Bay Area’s Caribbean roots music scene. Guests are sure the enjoy delicious Southern favorites from Kim’s Louisiana Fried Turkey & Stuff.
Both concerts will also feature a beverage booth serving up refreshing Main Street Margaritas and hometown brews by East Brother Beer Company, with proceeds of sales benefitting Richmond Main Street.
Admission is free; all ages are welcome.
Music on the Main is sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, Mechanics Bank, Rolling Hills Memorial Park, Sims Metal Management, Republic Services, and City of Richmond. Additional support for Music on the Main comes from the Downtown Richmond Property and Business Improvement District.
