NCNW Hosts Christian Women of the Year Awards Ceremony

The San Francisco Chapter of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) San recently held its 35th Annual Christian Women of the Year Luncheon and Awards Ceremony at Patio Espanol Restaurant, 2850 Alemany Blvd.

Honorees included Dorothy J. Gleaves of Bethel AME Church, Mary G. Dickerson of Cosmopolitan Baptist Church, Jacqueline Faye Edwards and Evelyn Reynolds of Macedonia Baptist Church, Gloria G. Edwards of Missionary Temple CME Church, Larece Phillips of St. Mark Institutional Baptist Church and Christena Jenkins and Katie Williams of Second Union Baptist Church

Gina M. Fromer, State Director of the Trust for Public Land, served as the Mistress of Ceremonies and Reverend Phillip Cousin, Jr., Pastor of Bethel AME Church, gave the invocation. Guests enjoyed music by Carlos Cousins, a praise dance presentation, and a performance of the “Phenomenal Woman” poem.

“This luncheon is special because it honors hard working Christian that my otherwise be overlooked in the community,” said Reverend Cynthia Joseph of Bethel AME Church. “These ladies are very deserving of this award because they are committed to their faith within their community.”
