Oakland Firefighters Win Pay Raise in Binding Arbitration with City

Oakland firefighters are close to winning a pay raise from the City of Oakland, the result of a long and contentious negotiation period , which was finally settled with binding arbitration.

The first reading of the agreement was ratified this week by the City Council.

The final vote will go to the council on Feb. 26.

The arbitration award, which was issued by Arbitrator Barry Goldman, grants the members of the International Association of Firefighters, Local 55 a 4 percent raise effective Nov. 1, 2017, an increase of 1 percent effective Nov. 1, 2018 and an increase of 2 percent effective the first full pay period of November 2019.
