Published

on

The City of Stockton is seeking community comment on its Climate Action Plan and associated Environmental Impact Report (EIR).

The Climate Action Plan calls for the city programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 17 percent and an 83 percent reduction from state level programs. If Stockton did nothing to reduce an estimated 2,672,519 metric tons of carbon dioxide would be produced from all sources within the community, such as traffic and industrial and manufacturing activities.

The Climate Action Plan Committee has been meeting regularly to develop greenhouse gas inventories and goals, a Green Building Ordinance, a Transit Plan/Program, and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Measures to include in the Climate Action Plan.

A community meeting and workshop is scheduled for Monday, March 10, 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m., at the Stockton Memorial Civic Auditorium, 525 N. Center St. There will be an opportunity for the community to submit comments at the meeting.

Members of the public may also submit written comments to the Community Development Department. Written comments must be received at the Community Development Department no later than, Monday, April 7 at 5 p.m.

To view the report, visit the city’s website at www.stocktongov.com/climateaction, or go to the Community Development Department Permit Center, 345 N. El Dorado Street, to request a copy.

Copies are also available at Cesar Chavez Central Library, Maya Angelou Library, Weston Ranch Library and Margaret K. Troke Library.
