Valentine’s Day Rally for Families of Murder Victims

Published

on

The Christopher Lavell Jones Foundation’s advocacy group, #TheirLivesMatter, will host a rally Friday, Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. in front of Oakland’s City Hall for over 50 families from across the Bay Area who have lost loved ones to murder, whose cases have gone unsolved .

Those attending the rally will include Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley, Interim Oakland Police Chief Sean Whent, as well as OPD’s Chief of Staff Holly Joshi and OPD Captain Sharon Williams.

Fliers will be passed out highlighting the rewards for information leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with these homicides.

“Our hope is to continue collaborating with entities within the City of Oakland to ensure closure for families who seek justice for their loved ones – still hurting – over the unnecessary bloodshed in our streets,” said Brenda Grisham, executive director of the foundation.

“Valentine’s Day is a day were we celebrate LOVE, but for so many families this day is a day of pain among hurting parents, spouses, but most of all – hurting children who will never be able to give their loved one a Valentine’s Day card,” she said.
