Woman Charged with Murder After Striking Pedestrian with Car in San Pablo
A 39-year-old woman is accused of intentionally striking and killing a woman with her car in San Pablo last month. During the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 8, 39-year-old Dene Blakely allegedly confronted a 60-year-old woman walking in the 1100 block of Broadway Avenue. Blakely said she recognized the pedestrian as someone who was stealing packages from her home, according to police.

A 39-year-old woman is accused of intentionally striking and killing a woman with her car in San Pablo last month.
During the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 8, 39-year-old Dene Blakely allegedly confronted a 60-year-old woman walking in the 1100 block of Broadway Avenue. Blakely said she recognized the pedestrian as someone who was stealing packages from her home, according to police.
A verbal altercation between the women escalated and resulted in what police investigators classified as an intentional collision.
Blakely was arrested at the scene of the collision without incident. The victim, whose name was not immediately available, died from her injuries on Dec. 23, leading prosecutors to add murder charges.
Blakely was arraigned on the amended charges on Dec. 29 and remains in custody.
