On October 11, the Multi-Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame will induct the legendary McClymonds Basketball Team in Oakland at Scott’s Seafood Pavilion, #2 in Jack London Square. The event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Honorees will include McClymond’s “Mack’s” High School team members from 1958 to 1962 that attained a record of 110 wins and only one loss. Over a three-year period, beginning in 1958, stretching to 1960, the team was undefeated with a record of 68 wins and no defeats. As a result of their record, they were voted the mythical National Champions, the best high school team in America.  For three consecutive years, no other school could boast such achievement. Spanning five consecutive years, they were California’s best team ever, with no other team even close.

The 1958 team, was led by Jim Hadnot, and prep All American Ed Thomas, both of whom went on to stellar college careers. The State Player of the Year, Paul Silas and Fritz Pointer led the 1959 and 1960 teams. The 1962 team was led by James Tolliver and Joe Ellis, State Player of the Year, who went on to become the 13th player chosen in the 1966 NBA draft, by the San Francisco Warriors in the second round. Silas, Ellis, and Hadnot became outstanding NBA players.

Post News Group publisher, Paul Cobb will serve as the emcee. Tickets are available for $100 each; tables of 10, $1000 each and sponsorship opportunities are available.

Tickets can be purchased at www.afrosportshall.com.
