Tom Cruise Explains What Could’ve Killed Him During His Insane ‘Mission’ Plane Stunt
(USA Today) – You might think that shots of Tom Cruise hanging onto the side of an A400 in flight are a pretty cool special effect. Nope, it’s real.
As Cruise told USA TODAY in our exclusive first look of Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, that’s him strapped on board the A400 during take off and landing.
It climbs so hard that his feet dangle. Cruise did this four times over two days. That green grass is the real English countryside. Here are some cool shots of it happening.
There is obvious danger here even with the utmost in precautions. Cruise, a pilot, says he was moving so fast on take-off that if a bird or a small stone was pushed through the plane propellers they could have been hurled at him with deadly force. Small rocks become bullets. The film team literally painstakingly scoured the runway looking for the smallest item which could turn deadly.
