Black Bourbon Society hosts Virtual Louisville event in Chicago
CHICAGO DEFENDER — Founded by Samara Rivers, Black Bourbon Society is a tiered membership organization that bridges the gap between the spirits industry and African American bourbon enthusiasts through brand-partnered events and exclusive excursions.
On Friday, Sept. 20, 40 members of Black Bourbon Society gathered at the VU Rooftop bar for their Virtual Louisville event, promoting multicultural tourism in Louisville.
“We are thrilled to celebrate America’s Native Spirit with the Black Bourbon Society,” said Cleo Battle, Chief Operating Officer of Louisville Tourism. “Our goal in partnering with BBS is to provide relevant education and other industry opportunities to these Bourbon aficionados by introducing and inspiring members to visit Louisville – the epicenter for authentic Bourbon tourism experiences and the mecca of Bourbon-infused southern culinary dishes,” he said.”
Guests enjoyed small bites of traditional Kentucky dishes Louisville Sliders and lamb meatballs, accompanied by classic cocktails such as The Seelbach, Mint Julep, and the Old Fashioned.

“Over the past few years, Louisville has become my second home. The city is bustling with new restaurants, lounges, distilleries, and of course, Bourbon! I am proud to showcase this event in partnership with Louisville Tourism in the city of Chicago and hope our guests will join us on future excursions to the Bluegrass State in the future,” Rivers said.
