Healthcare Programs Offered at Vallejo Career Center

Published

on

The Vallejo Unified School District Regional Education Center will be offering spring term registration until March 27 for students interested in a variety of adult education and healthcare programs.

As a Certified Home Health Aide, students will learn to care for the elderly or disabled in a home or hospital setting.

The program is 40 hours in total and includes 20 hours of classroom instruction covering personal care, medical and social needs of clients, cleaning, care tasks in the home and nutrition. The other 20 hours are spent off-site at a clinical practice externship.

“Our vision is for our diverse learners to be empowered, prepared and equipped with the academic and life skills needed to be productive members of society,” said Dr. Ramona Bishop, Superintendent.

“We are thrilled to have formulated partnerships that allow us to enhance our programming in this way, and look forward to continuing to serve students,” she said.

Upon successful completion of the class and clinical externship, students will be eligible for certification as a Home Health Aide through the California Department of Public Health. As a prerequisite, students must have certification as a nurse assistant.

“We have the programming to meet their needs whether it is to complete high school requirements or to advance their career.”
