By Kia Croom Over 10,000 people from all over the Bay Area came to Richmond Saturday, June 22 to celebrate the city’s 10th Annual Juneteenth Family Day Parade and Festival. It was standing room only at the festival in Nicholl Park, with a crowd that was estimated to be the biggest turnout in the event’s history. “Richmond’s Juneteenth is the best one I have been to all month. I wasn’t going to miss Lakeside for anyone,” said Elise Duncan, who came from from East Oakland to join the celebration. Duncan said she attended Juneteenth events in San Jose, the Fillmore District in San Francisco and Pittsburgh. Sponsors of the 10th Annual Juneteenth Family Day and Festival included: PG&E, Mechanics Bank, DP Security, LifeLong Brookside Community Health Center, Marin Clean Energy, the City of Richmond Office of Neighborhood Safety, KDYA Gospel 1190 The Light, Richmond Community Foundation, Richmond Black Fire Fighters Association, City of Richmond Police Department, Wal-Mart, Richmond Convention and Visitors Bureau, the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts,
