Stockton to host crime symposium
The City of Stockton Community Advisory Board is hosting a day-long symposium in June on crime prevention for residents and interested others to hear speakers and participate in workshops.
The Crime Prevention/Community Partnership Symposium is a free event scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 13 at the University of the Pacific’s DeRosa University Center, 3601 Pacific Ave., Stockton.
The goal of the event is to take a unique look at crime in Stockton with an opportunity to foster discussion on community relations, the police department and crime prevention.
Speakers and presentations include Patricia Miller discussing “Past, Present, Future” of Crime Prevention at 10:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.; “Courageous Conversation” by Irvin Jefferson at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. conducts a candid and open conversation on race relations and crime and Matt Beckwith at 11:30 a.m. providing “An Intimate View of Stockton.” There will also be a session on SPD Citizen Conduct at 12:15 p.m. and Courageous Conversation Workshops at 11:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.
